Welcome to Taunton Vale Polo Club

Founded in 1911 by the Officers of the Regimental Depot of the Somerset Light Infantry, together with other enthusiasts, Taunton Vale Polo Club has the oldest polo ground in England. Join us from April to September to play or watch some of the best polo the Westcountry has to offer. We provide polo for all ages and abilities from beginners to professionals with varying tournament levels allowing all members to be involved.

 
•    Two boarded grounds and practise ground
•    Wednesday chukkas and weekend tournaments 
•    Ponies available to hire
•    Coaching and lessons available 


The ground is open to spectators, so bring along a picnic and watch the action from the sidelines or from the beautiful thatched clubhouse open to visitors and members alike.
 
•    Free entry (some finals day may incur a small charge)
•    Dogs welcome (to be kept on a lead at all times)
•    Refreshments available from the clubhouse
•    No dress code

The Hatchmoor Boomerang

A great weekends polo  in fine weather, with a tussle between four teams, Sloe Cottage came out the winners of the Hatchmoor Boomerang against TBK, after a titanic, very fast game. 

May 25th & 26th Weston Super Mare Trophy -4 to 0 goals.

Please note the club AGM scheduled for June 9th has been postponed. Members will be notified when the new date is established

After a very fast and epic final, Sloe Cottage collected the Hatchmoor Boomerang for 2019. Four teams were entered and with fine weather, great polo was on display for all to enjoy

Directions

Grounds number 1 and 2 (both boarded) are at Orchard Portman, 3 miles from Taunton.

Directions from M5 From the M5, Junction 25, *proceed towards Taunton. Turn left at the second set of traffic lights (Creech Castle Hotel) and follow signs to the Racecourse. Having crossed over the M5 again, take the first turning left, towards Orchard Portman. The Polo grounds are approximately half a mile on the right hand side.

Directions from A303 From the A303, Ilminster bypass, take the A358 to Taunton until you reach the M5 roundabout and then as above*
